School Principal Brings McDonald’s Purple Grimace Shake, Nuggets to Lure Teen Girl for Sex: Cops

The principal of a southern New York middle school has been arrested on charges of luring a child and attempted rape.

Daniel Erickson, 55, was arrested “following an investigation into suspicious behavior involving a minor that attends Johnson City High School,” the Broome County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators found that Erickson was communicating with a 16-year-old girl over SnapChat “making comments and eventually overt actions” indicating he wanted to engage in sexual relations with her.

Erickson and the girl made plans to meet at a remote location on July 7, WEMT said, but instead of a teen girl, he was met by detectives. He brought with him to the meeting a McDonad’s Grimace shake, chicken nuggets, and a box of condoms.

That wasn’t the first time he tried to meet with her, the sheriff’s office said. On another occasion, he came to the girl’s home, but she didn’t come outside to meet him.

The sheriff’s office accused Erickson of posing as a younger adult in his initial conversations with the girl. The sheriff’s office was alerted to the conduct on July 5 and launched its investigation.
